Accrington Stanley
The
ground is a 15-20 minute walk from the station. For people driving over, there's
a decent size car park next to the ground, and it's FREE! However, as usual you
could have a bit of a wait to get out after the game. Your best bet is just to
park in the streets, somewhere between the M65 and the ground would seem to be
sensible.
As for beer options, there's quite a bit of choice. The Crown, right next to the
ground, allows away fans in. However, they don't have any hand-pulled beer, plus
it gets very busy. The best pub near the ground is the Grey Horse, which is a
Thwaites pub and is a five minute walk down Whalley Road towards the town
centre. Opposite the Grey Horse is the Oaklea Tavern, which is a big family pub.
On the way to the ground from the M65 you'll pass the Greyhound. This is a Sam's
pub. It gets decent reviews, plus of course it's dirt cheap. You will no doubt
find Gordon in there. If anyone does arrive by train, the only pub anywhere near
the station that gets good reviews is the Nags Head. It appears that Accrington
is the only city/town in the entire country without a Wetherspoons outlet. I'm
not sure what this tells us about Accrington.
